Record numbers of visitors to the Northern Homebuilding and Renovating Show in Harrogate this weekend kept us busy on the Yorkshire Heat Pumps stand, and demonstrated that interest in renewables is definitely on the rise.
We adopted a different approach from some other exhibitors with our dummy installation of a 13kW Stiebel Eltron ground source heat pump, with buffer cylinder and hot water cylinder. This proved to be a real talking point, and as anticipated, this set up both helped us explain how a heat pump system works and also helped homeowners understand the space required for a heat pump and all the ancillary equipment. It even had some people talking about modifying their floor plans to house the equipment they now understand they need.
We were there with experts from heat pump manufacturer, Stiebel Eltron, and insulated pipe specialists, Go Geothermal, who helped us manage the volume of visitors that ranged from the merely curious to the very serious, with plans in hand.
Our renewables journey began at the Harrogate Homebuilding and Renovating Show back in 2004 when we settled on a ground source heat pump for our own renovation project. It was interesting to be there again, twelve years on, but selling rather than buying heat pumps this time!
